Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah engaged with United States Consul General Conrad Tribble and USAID Pakistan Mission Director Ms. Kate Somvongsiri to explore opportunities for expanding the scope of USAID programs, particularly focusing on the education sector. The meeting, attended by Chairman P&D Najam Shah and Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, centered on expressing gratitude to USAID for its work in the education sector within Sindh. Chief Minister Shah urged USAID to extend its assistance towards the construction of school buildings affected by floods.

Ms. Kate Somvongsiri, the USAID Pakistan Chief, assured cooperation with the Sindh government in devising a plan for the reconstruction of flood-affected school buildings. Chief Minister Shah directed Chairman P&D Najam Shah to convene a meeting with the USAID team to finalize the reconstruction plan. Under the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), USAID has recently constructed 104 schools across 11 districts. Of these, 103 schools are operational, with a total student enrollment of 63,969, including 18,911 girls.

The SBEP aims to enhance student enrollment in primary, middle, and secondary schools by creating conducive learning environments. Ms. Kate Somvongsiri expressed USAID’s interest in collaborating on the mother-child nutrition program. Chief Minister Shah appreciated the support and highlighted the role of the Social Protection Department in managing such programs.

He instructed Secretary Raheem Shaikh to facilitate coordination between the USAID team and the Social Protection department for formalizing the nutrition program. Consul General Conrad Tribble extended congratulations to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on his third consecutive term in office, acknowledging his leadership.
