CM pursues Sufi university, CPEC and KCR with foreign diplomats

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed his government’s commitment to enhancing the industry and agriculture sectors through foreign investment by offering various incentives. He made these remarks during separate meetings with Consul Generals of China, Japan, Turkey, and Russia at the CM House in Karachi.

Congratulating him on his reelection as Sindh Chief Minister for the third term, the consul generals discussed matters of mutual interest, including investment opportunities and the exchange of trade delegations to bolster trade and commerce.

During the meeting with Consul General Yang Yundong of China, discussions centered around CPEC projects, the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), and agriculture. CM Shah highlighted progress in the BRT bus system and emphasized the role of KCR in resolving transportation issues in the city.

Consul General Yang assured that the KCR, a priority project of CPEC, would be approved soon. With Consul General HATTORI Masaru of Japan, talks revolved around investment opportunities in electronics and automobiles. It was agreed to organize a meeting between the Sindh Investment

Department and the Consulate’s top officers to identify sectors for investment. Consul General Cemal Sangu of Turkey expressed interest in expanding the education system in rural areas, with Turkish schools currently operating in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah proposed establishing Turkish schools in rural areas and discussed President Asif Zardari’s vision of establishing a Sufi University at Bhit Shah. The Turkish Consul General pledged to arrange a delegation of Sufi scholars to discuss the modalities of the university project.

In a meeting with Russian Consul General Andrey V. Fedorov covered various mutual interests. The engagements underscored the importance of fostering strong partnerships to drive economic growth and create opportunities for mutual benefit. Murad Ali Shah reiterated his government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investment by offering incentives and a conducive business environment.
