ISLAMABAD – A special court in the federal capital on Saturday approved the post-arrest bail of journalist and vlogger Assad Toor and ordered his release in a case related to making allegations against institutions and civil servants.
The Special Judge Central Islamabad approved Toor’s bail against surety bonds worth Rs5,000. The prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) did not oppose the bail plea
On the other hand, the Islamabad High Court, in its written order, has declared the FIA notices issued to the journalist unlawful.
The court wrote in its written decision that the notices were issued unlawfully, and later the FIR was registered against him. The court cannot pass an order for release of Assad Toor as it has no jurisdiction of taking the suo motu notice.
The high court remarked that only the FIA notices were challenged, so the petition was being wrapped up with observations.
