A Pakistani prisoner languishing in Indian jail has attempted suicide due to inappropriate behavior of the jail administration.
60-year-old Hamid Khan, who was incarcerated in Alwar District Jail, Rajasthan, despite the completion of his prison term, is now admitted at hospital in a critical condition.
Presently, of 347 Pakistanis, who are languishing in Indian jails, 76 are those who have completed their prison terms, but are still in jails.
Most of these Pakistanis had gone to India to tie the knot, but were detained. Even sections related to terrorism have been inserted in the cases registered against them.
These allegations, often contested, tie them to the complex web of India-Pakistan relations. The disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir remains a focal point, where many are accused of involvement in acts deemed fakely threatening to national security.
