Over 900 bikes snatched, 4221 stolen in Feb: CPLC report

The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) released its latest report on street crimes in Karachi for February 2024, revealing alarming figures. According to CPLC statistics, a staggering 916 bikes were snatched, while 4221 were stolen from citizens throughout the month. Shockingly, the police managed to recover only 181 of the two-wheelers.

In addition, the report highlighted that a total of 171 vehicles were either snatched at gunpoint or stolen during the same period.  However, law enforcement authorities were only able to recover 29 out of the 171 vehicles.

Furthermore, the report outlined that 1989 citizens fell victim to cellphone theft in February, with only 13 devices successfully recovered and returned to their owners. In a concerning development, the report also documented 11 cases of extortion during the month, although no bank robberies were reported in the same period.
