Overpopulation

Overpopulation has become a pressing issue in our country that demands urgent attention. Recently, Pakistan’s population crossed the mark of 240 million, making it one of the most populous countries in the world. Consequences of overpopulation are multifaceted and concerning. One major outcome is exacerbation of poverty, as resources stretch thin to accommodate such a large population. Additionally, overpopulation contributes to lack of development in various sectors, hindering progress and stifling economic growth. Unemployment rates also rise due to limited availability of job opportunities in proportion to growing workforce. The strain on public health infrastructure becomes evident as population surpasses the provision of adequate healthcare services.

Addressing the issue of overpopulation requires a multifaceted approach. Policies that promote family planning, education regarding birth control methods, and awareness campaigns can help in controlling population growth. Moreover, investments in social and economic development, job creation and healthcare facilities are imperative to mitigate the adverse effects of overpopulation.

It is crucial to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and implement immediate measures to tackle overpopulation. Collaboration between government, civil society and public is essential for effectively addressing this challenge and ensuring a sustainable future for the country.

Give respect, receive respect

On February 22, in talk show “Aaj Ka Such,” a politician appeared as a guest on the show hosted by Nadeem Hussain. Atmosphere soured due to heated arguments by the guest, when he faced some tough questions. He displayed an unusually aggressive demeanour despite Mr Nadeem’s positive approach. Guest’s rudeness towards the host was apparent!

It’s host’s job to ask questions and as a responsible politician it’s their duty to answer those questions with dignity. Instead of answering questions, he adopted an insulting attitude towards the anchor. If you can’t give respect, don’t ask for respect. Every individual has respect, it can be a politician, employee or a farmer. Politicians and people who matter must think twice before talking and giving replies especially on national television.

Compassion- fatigue

We expect every health care worker to be very nice to other people. Expectations hurt, as we all want to be treated well. The medical profession gives boundless rights to health care workers and they are angels. On the other hand, what are they getting? Please don’t compare money with emotions. Have we ever switched our roles and seen how you would feel if you needed to tell your patient that you are suffering from cancer or a chronic disease? Heart stops? This is what health care workers used to do every other day. When medicine wouldn’t be able to save the life of patient, the health care worker asked to go for Qalma-e-shahdaat.

In which the person who has very limited time has to recite this Qalma. Have you ever felt this? How depressing it is that you are not only telling the people but also encouraging them to have a smooth departure of souls. Health care workers are also humans, and these kinds of events made them suffer from chronic compassion fatigue. These angels are dealing with this 24/7. They also feel depressed and low, but they still stand firm to give the best possible care to other patients.

They are witnessing what a human can do, which is highly inhuman and causes turbulence. I’m a health care worker, so let me share with you my experience. A lady came into the ER because her husband threw acid on her and her mother. That lady’s mother died at the very moment. How cruel.

No work

is bad

Life without work is meaningless, dull and boring. It is work that fills life with joy and happiness. Not every activity qualifies as work; only those that are productive and beneficial for individuals or society deserve to be called such. The work of a sweeper is as sacred and noble as that of a bureaucrat or a doctor. A busy person remains happy and healthy, whereas an idle person is often gloomy and sick. Even the wealthiest individuals engage in some form of work to avoid boredom, as idleness can erode the soul. Work fosters optimism, confidence, and pride in individuals. It’s essential to understand that no profession deserves disrespect.
