KARACHI – Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by six wickets in the 28th Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 match at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Sunday.
Chasing a 167-run target for victory, Gladiators crossed the finishing line as Mohammad Wasim Junior hit a maximum on the last ball of the match with six wickets in hand. Saud Shakeel was the top scorer with 88 runs followed by Khawaja Nafay who made 26. Jason Roy scored 18 runs, skipper Rilee Rossouw 13 and Laurie Evans and Mohammad Wasim Junior seven runs each. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jahandad Khan bagged two wickets each. Saud Shakeel was named player of the match.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sahibzada Farhan (25) and Mirza Baig (12) provided a steady start with a 38-run opening partnership. After losing three quick wickets, Abdullah Shafique (59) and skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi (55) steadied the ship by putting on a 91-run partnership. Qalandars ended up at 166/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Abrar Ahmed bagged two wickets while Mohammad Wasim Junior and Mohammad Amir took one wicket each.
