PESHAWAR – Significant rains, snowfall over the hills and isolated hailstorms are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over southwestern Balochistan. It will likely grip most upper parts of Pakistan today.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills and isolated hailstorms are expected in Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, Kohat, Kurram, Khyber, Bajaur, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner and Peshawar on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

Heavy rain with isolated heavy snowfall may cause the closure of roads in Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Shangla. Wind-thunderstorm/hailstorms may damage loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Tourists are advised not to travel unnecessarily.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in the upper districts.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 08 C below freezing.
