Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Friday said that women’s day is not just one, every day is women’s day and she wants women chief minister in other provinces as well.
Addressing the ceremony held in connection with the International Women’s Day at a local hotel in Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz stated that she is very happy to be there and will not deliver any traditional speech.
She added: ‘We have a women’s development department, the woman who serves the whole house is our hero, all three of whom I came with were pilot officers, I want people to see women officers’.
The Chief Minister congratulated Inspector General (IG) Punjab that women’s desks have been set up in police stations. She asked for a police uniform to make a visit wearing it.
Maryam praised Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Amara Athar, “I too had to work hard for 13 years to make my place. All the women officers here are role models for the people. We have created a safety app ‘Never Again’. I have been in death cell, I have been trained, for which I am grateful to the opponents.”
She continued to say that people do not see the struggle of every woman, harassment of women is my red line. I wish that if any girl wants to work or study, she should do it.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday launched a tree plantation campaign by plating a sapling in Dargai Gill Forest Park Sheikhupura. According to official sources here, on ocassion of the World Women day, Maryam Nawaz being the first woman Punjab CM planted a sapling of Banyan known as Bargad. Speaking at the event, the CM said that tree plantation campaign would be helpful in dealing with the climate change. She said that trees play a significant role in reducing environmental pollution besides playing major role to stop cutting of land and increasing lands fertility. Maryam Nawaz was briefed that on Women Day, 600,000 saplings would be planted across the province. Tree plantation will be carried on banks of rivers as well. Overall more than 10 million trees would be planted during spring tree plantation campaign. It is pertinent to mention that it is unique honour of planting 12,000 saplings at once on the Women Day. Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also planted a sapling while MPA Sania Ashiq and others were also present.
Moreover, the Spring plantation drive inauguration ceremony took place at Lal Sohanra National Park, chaired by the Conservator of Forests and Administrator Nadim Ashraf Warraich. Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Hina Naseer participated as a chief guest along with her school students and other women. Nadim Ashraf Warraich provided information to the students the park.
