Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Lahore President Jameel Asghar Bhatti on Thursday apologized to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz over his inappropriate language.

The PTI leader expressed his shame for using indecent language against Maryam Nawaz.

“Maryam Nawaz is like my sister and daughter,” said Bhatti in a video message.

He also admitted that he made extremely wrong remarks about Maryam Nawaz during the scrutiny of nomination papers and used many inappropriate words out of emotions.

Jameel Asghar Bhatti further said that Maryam Nawaz is a leader of the country and currently holds the position of Chief Minister of Punjab.

He humbly asked for forgiveness, saying that no woman including Maryam Nawaz should be spoken to in such a manner, and the dignity of women should always be respected.

He emphasized that he always regarded women as sisters and daughters, and Maryam Nawaz is undoubtedly like his sister and daughter.

The PTI leader urged the party leaders and workers to consider the honour of every mother, sister, and daughter and refrain from using indecent language against any woman.

It may be mentioned here that various political leaders and individuals from other fields faced criticism for using inappropriate language against women in the past.

The attacks on women politicians, both personally and politically, have been a part of the society and the political culture, and crossing all ethical boundaries in political disputes has been the norm for self-serving politicians and other individuals.

Several leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-N have also used indecent language against former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Similarly, women associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have also faced such behaviour, with derogatory remarks being made against women who wave party flags.
