KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah unveiled a Ramzan relief package worth Rs22bn on Thursday in a bid to ease burden of the inflation-stricken citizens across the province.

CM Shah sanctioned the package which included Rs5000 in cash to 60 percent of the province’s population earning minimum wage.

The cash assistance will reach 3.5 million households earning a minimum monthly wage of Rs32,000, with the Sindh Zakat Department disbursing Rs14,000 to 110,000 impoverished families.

CM Shah also instructed that there should be no power outages during Sehr and Iftar throughout Sindh.

He urged K-Electric, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), and Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO) to maintain a stable electricity supply during Ramadan in their respective areas.

During the meeting, the chief minister emphasized a crackdown on hoarders and profiteers across the province.  The district administrations were directed to ensure the enforcement of government-mandated prices for essential commodities.
