Weather outlook of Islamabad, Pakistan; scattered rain, snowfall likely

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over the mountains for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday and Thursday.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country. A westerly wave is likely to enter Balochistan today.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country and freezing in upper parts on Tuesday evening/night, Wednesday and Thursday. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are expected in northwest/south Balochistan on Tuesday evening/night.

On Wednesday and Thursday, cloudy weather with chances of rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over hills are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, northwest/south Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and surrounding hilly areas.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 06-08 C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts and freezing in upper parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Kalam remained the coldest place in Pakistan where temperature dropped 12 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 74 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 06 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 76 per cent.
