PSL 2024, Match 19: Multan Sultans beat Karachi Kings by 20 runs

KARACHI – Multan Sultans beat Karachi Kings by 20 runs in the 19th Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 match at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday evening.

Chasing a challenging 190-run target for victory, Karachi Kings continued losing wickets at regular intervals and ended up at 169/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Veteran Shoaib Malik was the top scorer with 38 runs followed by skipper Shan Masood who made 36. Mohammad Nawaz made 27 runs, Irfan Khan Niazi 23, Hasan Ali 17 and Leus Du Plooy 12 runs. No other batter could reach the double figures. Usama Mir bagged two wickets while Mohammad Ali, Khushdil Shah, Chris Jordan and David Willey took one wicket each. Usman Khan was named player of the match.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Sultans put 189 runs on the board, losing three wickets in the allotted 20 overs. After losing Reeza Hendricks early, skipper Mohammad Rizwan (58) and Usman Khan (106) stitched a 148-run partnership for the second wicket to steady the ships for the Sultans, who reached 189/s in 20 overs. Blessing Muzarabani bagged two wickets while Hasan Ali took one wicket.
