KW&SC gears up for rain emergency

As the Meteorological Department forecasts imminent rainfall, Asadullah Khan, the Chief Operating Officer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), has issued a crucial directive in response. Khan revealed that under the guidance of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, a rain emergency has been declared, prompting swift action from the water corporation.

During a pivotal meeting convened today, chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by Mayor Karachi, essential measures were outlined to tackle the impending rain. Khan disclosed that all preparations instructed by the Chief Minister have been promptly executed by the water board. Notably, 53 suction machines have been strategically positioned across the city’s major roads and deep areas in anticipation of the rainfall. Moreover, Asadullah assured that in the event of power outages, generators would ensure the uninterrupted operation of all water pumping stations. Significant quantities of diesel have been stocked at sewage pumping stations to guarantee seamless functionality even in adverse conditions.

He emphasized that the entire staff of the water corporation, particularly those involved in sewage management, are on high alert in anticipation of the expected rainfall. Khan further reiterated the corporation’s commitment to serving the citizens round the clock, emphasizing their preparedness to handle any situation arising from the rain.

Asadullah Khan CEO Karachi Water and Wewarage Board urged citizens to refrain from unnecessary travel and advised against venturing out of non-essential premises during the expected rainfall.
