RAWALPINDI – Motorcycle riders have been banned at major flyovers in Rawalpindi to avoid any ill-fated incident during the banned Basant festival.
Police in the garrison city chalked out a plan to foil possible plans to celebrate the banned festival of Basant, but people in the city celebrated the event, defying the odds.
A number of colorful kites were spotted flying over the Pindi sky as citizens welcomed spring with old traditions despite the ban from law enforcers.
Rawalpindi police said flyovers at Murree Road, Airport Road, and other areas have been closed for two-wheelers. Several people have also nabbed who were involved in aerial firing.
Cops and local administration called for stern punishments for kite-flying in the province with imprisonment of five years.
