The Peshawar police on Thursday have flatly refused a request from their counterparts in Punjab to arrest PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal. A team of Punjab police from Attock was in Peshawar to arrest Aslam Iqbal in connection with May 9 vandalism cases but the KP police insisted that the PTI leader was not facing any criminal case at the moment.
Sources said the Peshawar police clarified to Punjab police that PTI leader was not facing any criminal case in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and moreover the Peshawar High Court has granted AslamIqbal transit bail. The Peshawar police, therefore, were unable to help their counterparts from Punjab in nabbing PTI nominee for Punjab chief minister slot AslamIqbal.—APP
