The case was registered at the Malir Cantonment police station on the complaint of Abdullah, a cousin of the deceased UC chairman.
The FIR included charges of murder, attempted murder, rioting, arson and other offenses. “My uncle is associated with the cable network work in the area. My uncle’s son had gone to fix a cable fault with his three colleagues,” said the complainant in the FIR. “Mushtaq Sanjrani, his son, and their 14 to 15 companions gathered and stopped them from work, read the FIR.
The complainant stated that he informed his cousin UC Chairman Sabir Magsi about the incident who told them not to engage in a fight. Abdullah said when he reached the scene with his two companions, the Sanjrani group attacked them using firearms and iron rods.
The complainant stated that as a result of the attack, some of his friends were injured and later, when Magsi reached the scene, he asked the Sanjrani group to let him take the injured to hospital.
The FIR stated that Sanjrani then ordered his men to shoot Magsi. He was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the search for the suspects had been initiated after the case registration.
