RIUJ, ICCI pledge to work jointly to promote country’s economy

A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by its President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari on Tuesday visited the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and congratulated the newly elected RIUJ President Tariq Ali Virk, Secretary General Asif Bashir Chaudhry and other office bearers of the Union.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Bakhtawari said that the journalistic community has an important role in guiding the society and highlighting the economic potential of the country.

He said that the ICCI would work with RIUJ to promote the business and economic interests of Pakistan. He said that the journalistic community should highlight the investment potential in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy that would help attract foreign investment to Pakistan.

Talking to delegation, President RIUJ Tariq Ali Virk said that the RIUJ and ICCI will continue to work together to resolve the key issues of the business community and create a conducive business environment in the country.

He said that the business community and journalists are facing many common problems and they should work together to get their issues addressed. He thanked Ahsan Bakhtawari and members of his delegation for visiting them to congratulate them on their election.

President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt said that they enjoy very friendly relations with ICCI which has always supported them in promoting the cause of their community. He said that the visit of the ICCI delegation to congratulate the new office bearers of RIUJ was a morale booster for them.

Former President ICCI and Secretary General UBG Pakistan, Zafar Bakhtawari said that a hospital should be built in Islamabad for the business community and journalists to provide them free medical treatment. He said that the new government should present its economic manifesto and added that ICCI in collaboration with the National Press Club will organize a summit in this regard.

President National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad, Anwar Raza said that ICCI was maintaining close relations with the journalistic community and hoped that journalists and the business community would work together to promote trade and exports of the country.

Secretary General of RIUJ, Asif Bashir Chaudhry said that his union’s friendship with ICCI spans many decades and hoped that this good tradition will be continued in the future.

Secretary National Press Club Khalil Ahmed Raja and Secretary Finance Nayar Ali also spoke on the occasion.

Khalid Chaudhry, Ameer Hamza, Saifur Rahman Khan, Nasir Chaudhry, Shahid Abbasi, Nisar Ahmad Mirza, Zarif Khan, and others were in the ICCI delegation. RIUJ executive committee members Ali Akhtar, Rana Farhan Aslam, Rizwan Gilani, Nawabzada Shah Ali, Ghafran Chishti, and a large number of journalists were present on the occasion.
