The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and the Awami National Party (ANP) have decided to deepen their political collaboration. A delegation from MQM-P visited the ANP Sindh at Mardan House, to express gratitude for the support extended during the General Elections 2024.
The delegation, led by Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori and including prominent figures such as MQM-P Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Dr. Farooq Sattar, and Anees Kaimkhani, was warmly received by ANP Sindh President. Sources familiar with the meeting revealed that both parties affirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation, particularly in addressing issues in Sindh, especially urban areas like Karachi. Speaking to the media post-meeting, MQM-P Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasized that the encounter symbolized not just a meeting but a pact for enduring peace.
He expressed confidence that future generations would reap the benefits of this collaboration, stressing that the era of conflict was now behind them, and MQM-P and ANP would jointly strive for Karachi’s development.
ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed echoed Siddiqui’s sentiments, highlighting the joy among Karachi’s Pashtun and Urdu-speaking communities regarding the partnership between the two parties. He credited Mustafa Kamal for initiating efforts to bridge differences and foster unity. Shahi Syed also underscored the importance of empowering districts following the 18th constitutional amendment, emphasizing that their joint struggle would persist until grassroots rights are secured.
This political alliance between MQM-P and ANP was forged prior to the general elections through seat adjustments in various constituencies. Notably, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) supported ANP at PS-88 while receiving ANP’s backing for several National and Sindh Assembly seats. Additionally, ANP extended support to Syed Mustafa Kamal, leading to his victory in NA-242.
