Ambassador of Iran, Reza Amiri Moghadam has expressed commitment to enhancing ties with Pakistan including initiatives to facilitate border trade and collaboration in various sectors such as industrial, energy and trade cooperation.

He was addressing a reception he hosted to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the National Day of Iran reiterating the enduring friendship and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani was the chief guest on the occasion while Interim Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khurram Dastgir Khan, Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Atadjan Movlamov, Special Representative to the PM for Religious Harmony & Islamic Countries Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, Interim Minister for Education, Madad Ali Sindhi, Chairman & CEO of Pakistan Observer Faisal Zahid Malik, Custodian of Eidgah Sharif, Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rehman, parliamentarians, diplomats, members of business community and notable personalities of the town attended the reception and extended their heart-felt congratulations to Ambassador Reza, the staff of the embassy and the Iranian nationals on the auspicious occasion.

In his address, Chief Guest Jalil Abbas Jilani congratulated the people and the leadership of Iran on the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and appreciated the brotherly country’s journey to progress and economic empowerment of its people.

Pakistan, he said, valued relations with Iran as the diplomatic relations between the two Islamic Republics spanned over more than four decades. He extended warm wishes for a bright and prosperous future to Pakistan emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations. Earlier in his welcome address, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed gratitude for the longstanding ties between Iran and Pakistan, rooted in historical, cultural, and religious affinities.

The ambassador praised the close cooperation between Iran and Pakistan on regional, international, and the Islamic world issues, emphasizing shared viewpoints and mutual support in various forums.

“Iran was the first country to recognize the independent Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan was the first country to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran after the victory of the revolution,” he said.

“Last year, the trade value between the two countries exceeded US$ 2.5 billion last year, and the two countries aim to reach the figure of 5 billion dollars,” he noted. Murtaza Solangi also spoke on the occasion saying the people of Iran and Pakistan and their governments fully understood the significance and value of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. “Pakistan is determined to further strengthen its bilateral relations with Iran as both countries have been enjoying historical brotherly relations,” the minister said while addressing the ceremony.
