Independent candidates are taking the lead over top political parties, PML-N and PPP, in the General Election 2024, as results continue to pour in. Results shared by Election Commission show a big chunk of independent candidates elected from national and provincial assembly seats.
Masses consider that all individuals are backed by Imran Khan’s PTI. However, that is not the case as not all independent candidates are affiliated with PTI.
The above-mentioned dilemma surfaced when Imran Khan’s party decided to field independent candidates as the party was deprived of its iconic bat symbol – which forced most of them to contest on lesser-known electoral symbols.
Ahead of polls, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf shared a list of independent candidates supported by the party.
As per the results shared by the polls body, 92 out of 100 candidates are supported by PTI while the remaining 8 have no link to Imran Khan’s party.
