Ahead of the upcoming general elections on February 8, a comprehensive report submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh has revealed the extensive preparations made for polling across the province. According to the report disclosed by the AIG Operations Sindh, a total of 14,052 polling buildings and 19,008 polling stations have been designated throughout Sindh.
These sites are categorized based on their sensitivity levels, with 4,498 identified as highly sensitive, 4,834 as sensitive, and 4,720 as normal polling buildings. Similarly, the polling stations are categorized into highly sensitive (6,801), sensitive (6,550), and normal (5,657) categories.
The report also outlined the deployment of a substantial number of security personnel, with a total of 143,156 deployed across the province.
This includes 95,400 personnel assigned specifically for polling stations, along with 10,648 Quick Response Force members and 37,108 private/supportive security personnel. In the Karachi range, covering 8 districts, a total of 40,443 security personnel have been deployed across 5,343 polling stations and 2,697 polling buildings, highlighting the comprehensive security arrangements put in place for the elections.
