The Punjab cabinet on Thursday approved the purchase of 32,000 cameras for election monitoring in accordance with the directive of the Election Commission.
Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, the Punjab cabinet meeting was held to discuss all possible measures for the conduct of fair and transparent elections.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that impartial and free elections will be ensured on February 8th, and every candidate has the right to participate in the electoral process. It is the responsibility of the government to provide a level playing field in the elections.
In the meeting, amendments to the Motor Vehicle Rules of 1969 were approved, allowing for a retest two weeks after failing.
Approval was also granted for the acquisition of land for the construction of smart police stations in various districts of Punjab, and new grant formulas for trust hospitals under the Health Facilities Program were approved.
Expansion and development of the Secretariat complex and traffic management around the Secretariat were also approved in the meeting.
