Weather outlook of Lahore, Punjab; wet spell to continue

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing wet spell to continue intermittently in Lahore and parts of Punjab during this week.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country. It is likely to persist during next few days.

Under these conditions, cold weather is expected in most districts of the province on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

Heavy rain/snow is expected in Murree, Galyat and surrounding. Snowfall may cause landslides and closure of roads in Murree and Galyat.

Rain is also likely in Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sahiwal, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Kasur.

Fog is likely in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and cloudy weather prevailed in most areas of the province during the last 24 hours.

However, rain occurred in northeast/central Punjab. Fog prevailed over few plain areas of Punjab.

Snowfall (Inches): Murree 02

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 01 C below freezing. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 09 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 75 per cent.
