Islamabad, Pakistan weather; wet spell to continue

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rains with snowfall over mountains for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during this week.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country. It is likely to persist during next few days.

Under these conditions, cloudy weather with rain and snowfall over mountain is expected in Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Potohar region, Upper Punjab and Kashmir on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday and Friday.

Heavy rainfall/ snowfall is likely at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period. Fog is likely at few places in Punjab and upper Sindh.

Snowfall may affect the transportation on 31 January and 01 February. Tourists are advised to be cautious.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 08-10 C on Friday.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and cloudy weather prevailed in most areas of the country during the last 24 hours.

However, rain with isolated snowfall occurred in Kashmir, Islamabad, northeast/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Karachi, Thatta and Ormara.

Fog prevailed over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 07 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 94 per cent.
