Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh RaffatMukhtar Raja, on Monday presided over a high-level meeting/video conference to review and discuss the security measures and preparations for the upcoming general elections in 2024. During the briefing, officers were instructed to assess and implement security measures and deployment arrangements at the district, zone, and district levels. IG Sindh emphasized the importance of finalizing the Election Home Work, taking into account past election incidents, to ensure effective implementation and extraordinary measures.

He highlighted the need to scrutinize events from previous elections, aiming to improve and enhance the overall electoral process. Particularly focusing on wee hour activities such as political gatherings and corner meetings, IG Sindh stressed the need for a thorough examination.

He emphasized that not only should assessments be made based on lists, but protective measures should also be intensified in light of the trust in political leaders and their recommendations. Strict directives were issued by IG Sindh to immediately report any violations of the code of conduct in any region to the Election Commission in writing. Stringent actions, in accordance with the law, were recommended against individuals involved in the display of weapons and engagement in violent activities during the election season.
