ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rainfall of varying intensities for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, mainly very cold and partly cloudy weather is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.
However, light rain with light snowfall over mountains is expected in Islamabad, Potohar region, and at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in Islamabad, plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Very cold weather is likely in aforesaid areas due to dense fog.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03 degrees Celsius on Friday and 02-04 C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, foggy weather and cold wave persisted in Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours.
Freezing weather prevailed in northern areas and north Balochistan.
Skardu remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 10 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01 C.
Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.
Dense fog/smog prevailed in Islamabad, Potohar region, and plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Dense fog/smog forced the closure of Motorways and disrupted traffic on the National Highway and other inter and intra-city roads.
