RAWALPINDI – Several universities and colleges were closed in Islamabad amid the threat of a possible terror attack ahead of upcoming elections.
The educational institutions were closed as the country is reeling under fresh waves of terrorism in recent months ahead of national elections set for February 8.
On Monday, four universities including Quaid-e-Azam University, Air University, Bahria University and National Defence University were closed after a security alert in the wake of the possibility of an attack by a female suicide bomber.
As educational activities are facing disruptions, the administrations of varsity said they would remain closed till January 26, 2024.
Meanwhile, International Islamic University said it would remain closed till Jan 26. The varsity said all faculty and staff, except security and necessary admin staff, will work from home.
Earlier this week, Islamabad police and other law enforcement agencies conducted a search operation in the capital while security was beefed up.
