Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Muslim League-N Senior Vice-President, on Monday said that a “terrorist group” could not be given a political party’s electoral symbol.
Kicking off the party’s election campaign for the February 8 polls, the PML-N chief organiser fired a fresh salvo against Khan’s party dubbing it as a group of terrorists for orchestrating and carrying out May 9 violent attacks.
“Your electoral symbol should be the watch that you stole or the petrol bomb that you hurled on police officials […] what goes around comes around,” she said while taking a jibe at Imran’s disqualification in the Toshakhana case after the Election Commission of Pakistan found the PTI founder guilty of corrupt practices.
“Your electoral symbol was not bat but baton with which you attacked military instalments. The baton has been snatched from your hand,” she maintained.
“Today, what is happening to the PTI is a result of what they sowed against others,” Maryam said. Despite fog and intense cold weather a large number of people attended the rally.
Imran was used to being a blue-eyed boy, she said. She said neither the PML-N nor Nawaz was taking revenge on the PTI, she said.
The one who used to call others thieves himself stole watches from the Toshakhana, she said.
The PTI chairman was in habit of favouritism when the judges used to greet him by saying “good to see you”, she said and added that he had lost the facilitators and patronage.
“The facility of issuing decisions on basis of phone [calls] made by the mother-in-law [of former chief justice Umar Ata Bandial] isn’t available now,” she said. “You and your facilitators have been caught red-handed while cheating.”
Maryam said, “They were acting like pharaohs, but are now running away like rats. A person standing for truth like Nawaz never back down. Nawaz had left the office with grace, they are escaping while trying to hide their faces.”
Maryam, while referring to the recent resignations tendered by two SC judges said that every individual involved in committing excesses to Nawaz Sharif was facing ultimate justice.
Maryam said they would have thought they could win an election like 2018 by shutting down the RTS button.
