ISLAMABAD – Bushra Bibi, the wife PTI founder Imran Khan has approached the Islamabad High Court to seek annulment of her marriage during the ‘iddat’ period.

Bushra Bibi has filed a petition through Barrister Salman Akram Raja in the Islamabad High Court, submitting that a case of marriage during the ‘iddat’ period is not valid, and the trial court also does not have jurisdiction to hear such a case.

She said that her former husband, Khawar Maneka, filed baseless complaints for malicious purposes, falsely accused her of a sham marriage during ‘iddat,’ and claimed to have divorced her on November 14, 2017.

Khawar Maneka had given her verbal divorce three times on April 15, 2017, and she moved to her mother’s house in August 2017. She got married to Imran Khan on January 1, 2018.

Bushra Bibi asked the court that the order of a trial court be declared null and void, and  an order be issued to annul the marriage case during the ‘iddat’ period.

She also asked the court to halt the proceedings of the trial court until a decision is made on the petition.
