LAHORE – In a significant political development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has officially terminated seat adjustment discussions with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The decision was announced during a session led by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the head of PML-Q. The meeting clarified that PML-Q has opted not to pursue seat adjustments with PML-N, marking a decisive stance ahead of the upcoming elections.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain, addressing the media, emphasized that they are unwilling to accept seat adjustments beyond their designated constituencies. This decision comes as PML-N issues tickets to its candidates in constituencies where PML-Q had initially sought cooperation.
Adding another layer to the unfolding political drama, PML-N has revealed its candidates for constituencies in Gujarat, including contests against Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and other PML-Q members. Salik Hussain asserted that PML-N’s strategic placement of candidates in their preferred constituencies is non-negotiable, highlighting the party’s commitment to maintaining electoral standards.
As the election landscape takes shape, both PML-Q and PML-N are gearing up for contests in constituencies where seat adjustments were initially under discussion. A recent report indicated that PML-N has finalized party tickets for multiple constituencies, leaving some strategically vacant for potential collaboration with other political entities.
In Punjab, PML-Q’s decision not to pursue seat adjustments has implications for the distribution of seats in the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly.
The move also opens up opportunities for other parties, including the Istehkam-PakistanParty (IPP). Prominent figures like Jhangir Tareen, Numan Langrial, Engineer Gul Asghar, and Ghulam Sarwar Khan have been identified as potential candidates for various constituencies.
