Four of a family buried alive in roof collapse

As many as four members of a family were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in Hafizabad in the wee hours on Saturday. The tragic incident took place in Ramke Chattah area of Hafizabad, said rescue officials.

According to details, the family had lit a fire on the roof to provide heat to animals. The fire engulfed the roof of the feeble house and it caved in killing four people and injuring another four.

The deceased include 40-year-old Asif, 35-year-old Shazia, 14-year-old Imaan and five-year-old Zulekha. The rescue officials pulled out the dead bodies and injured from the debris. The condition of two of the injured was critical, the rescue officials said.
Meanwhile, caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolence over the tragic incident. The chief minister directed the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured.—INP
