ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi witnessed chaotic scenes as Maulana Masood-ur-Rehman, the Central Deputy General Secretary of the Sunni Ulema Council Friday was shot dead.

Rehman, a known leader of the Sunni Ullema Council, comes under attack by armed motorcyclists near Ghori Town in the federal capital.

The deceased was attacked by bike-borne shooters in Ghori Town, a suburb in Islamabad.

SUC spokesperson said Masood was shifted to the nearest hospital, where he breathed his last.

Meanwhile, no terror group has claimed responsibility for the killing of the Islamic scholar.

The incident triggered chaos as Usmani remained a key figure and a vocal supporter of the Pakistan Movement.

He was a member of the Council of Islamic Ideology, a constitutional body that advises the state on Islamic matters.

This is a developing story, and will be updated shortly…
