LAHORE – Punjab Department of Special Education on Thursday modified the school hours for the special needs children across the province amid the strong weather conditions.

The new changes in the school hours will be implemented from January 10 to the end of February for the safety of the special needs children.

A notification was issued in this regard.

As per the updated schedule, the schools hours will start from 9:00 am and will conclude at 2:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. However, on Fridays, the schools hours will conclude at noon.

Initially scheduled to reopen on January 1, the schools remained closed due to the persistent cold weather conditions.

The local authorities had extended the winter break and directed to shut down all public and private educational institutions in the province until January 9 due to severe cold weather conditions.

Previously, the respective department had relaxed the dress code due to changing weather, and now the students are allowed to wear warmth clothes besides their regular uniforms.

Contrary to Punjab, the decision of extension in the winter break in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not receive well as many criticized the authorities concerned.

The KP Education department had extended the winter break until January 7.
