An audit after a detailed inspection by Karachi Fire Brigade Department (KFBD) of three important highways including 266 buildings of I.I. Chandrigar Road, Shahrah Faisal and Shahrah Quaideen revealed that 94 percent of the buildings violate the fire safety laws.
According to the report, fire extinguishers were installed in only six buildings out of 266 while over 200 buildings on three highways lacked basic facilities to control fire in emergency.
According to the fire safety report, there is no emergency exit in 62 percent of the buildings, while the electrical wiring system in 70 percent of the buildings is substandard.
