Dr Javed directs timely up-gradation of hospitals

Punjab Caretaker Health Minister Prof Dr. Javed Akram said the ongoing revamping project in government hospitals across the province was being monitored on a daily basis.

He was visiting the Children’s Hospital Lahore here on Saturday. He said that under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, the ongoing construction project in the hospital was being reviewed.

“There is not even one percent delay in the ongoing construction project in the hospital. The revamping work is going on successfully in more than one hundred government hospitals of Punjab,” he added.

Dr. Javed Akram said that Children’s Hospital administration, XEN and all contractors had been directed to complete the ongoing construction work in the hospital at all costs on time. Patients at the hospital told the provincial minister that they were satisfied with the treatment facilities in the hospital.

The minister inquired about medical facilities provided to the patients and expressed his satisfaction. On this occasion, Childrens Hospital MD Professor Dr. Tipu Sultan gave a briefing to the minister.

Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram also paid a detailed visit to Punjab Institute of Cardiology and presided over an important meeting.

Dr Javed also visited the patients and inquired about the quality of medical facilities.

He rejected the request to complete the emergency block of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology on January 31 instead of Dec 31 and ordered the completion of the project on time. The minister said that administration of PIC has been instructed to complete the emergency in three shifts at the appointed time. PIC will be made paperless with the help of the Punjab Information Technology Board, he added.

A meeting of the PIC board will be called immediately to approve the 19 agendas discussed today. Strict notice taken of the delay in the treatment of patients in the emergency of PIC and the administration has been ordered to take necessary steps. Dr Javed directed to arrange a pacemaker immediately for a patient admitted in emergency. No patient should face any difficulty in PIC.

Secretary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan, Chairman Board of Management Prof Dr Farqad Alamgir, Executive Director Prof Dr Anjam Jalal, MS PIC Dr. Syed Mohsin Ali Shah, Director of Finance and other officers participated on this occasion.
