The people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are suffering immensely as the personnel of Indian forces and dreaded investigation agencies continue their violent cordon and search operations and house raids in different areas of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the personnel of Indian army, paramilitary, police, National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency conduct cordon and search operations and house raids in various areas of Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam, Rajouri and Poonch districts, every now and then, subjecting the locals to severe harassment. The residents of many areas told the media that the forces’ personnel make them stand in open for hours in bone-chilling cold. They said the troops forcibly enter the residential houses, terrorize the inmates and ransack the household goods.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman in a statement in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris. He said more than 4,000 Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth are facing hell-like situations in various jails of India and occupied Kashmir. The spokesman urged the world human rights organizations to play an effective role in the release of these prisoners.
Legal experts based in Srinagar in their interviews and statements deplored that Modi-led Indian government is using judiciary to strengthen India’s illegal hold over Jammu and Kashmir. They maintained that the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict in the Article 370 case was its testimony. They added that the Modi regime’s illegal actions of August 05, 2019 opened a more brutal chapter in Kashmir’s tortured history.
National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, talking to reporters in Poonch maintained that dialogue between India and Pakistan is the only way to resolve the Kashmir dispute. He added that war is no solution and New Delhi must realize this fact. He also condemned the killing and torturing of civilians by Indian troops at an army camp in Surankote area of the district.
On the other hand, illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar jail, paid rich tributes to prominent Kashmiri leader, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, for his contribution to the Kashmir freedom movement. Professor Shawl passed away in London, yesterday, after a brief illness. Other APHC leaders including Khawaja Firdous, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Muhammad Shafi Lone, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Fayyaz Hussain Jafari, Sibte Shabbir Qummi, Muhammad Yasin Ataai, Ghulam Nabi War, Muhammad Aaqib, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Sheikh Yaqoob and Abdul Majeed Mir in their statements termed the death of Professor Shawl a huge loss to the Kashmiris struggle for right to self-determination.—KMS
