Salute to Hamas mothers!

The war between Hamas and Israel certainly indicates that Israel has lost. The world knows well that there is no comparison between Israel and Hamas in terms of military power and weaponry. Nevertheless, Hamas fighters have proven to be more professional and ethical than the Israeli forces. Hostages who were released have attested that Hamas followed Islamic protocols with prisoners of war. On the contrary, terrorist acts by Israel have shown cruelty. Alas! A woman released by Israel was found without fingers on one of her hands – reportedly bitten by cruel Israelis, supported openly by the US, UK and others.

On the other hand, captives with Hamas were seen smiling upon their release to the Red Cross. Despite extensive casualties and scarce resources, the absolute devastation of life and resources, Palestinians remain hopeful. Statements from Hamas spokesperson(s) addressing Israeli intruders mention only four options if they invade Gaza: death or permanent disability, abduction or a life marred by insanity.

Courageous Palestinians stand with open arms facing fighter planes, gunship helicopters and tanks, demonstrating their readiness for martyrdom. Israel’s military might has proven ineffective against a few hundred fighters armed with meagre resources – reminiscent of the Battle of Badr in 313 AD. The bravery of Hamas fighters shines while Israeli soldiers are seen hiding behind trenches and tanks. Hamas fighters boldly approach tanks from specific angles, place explosives and observe destruction – much like the 1965 war between India and Pakistan in the Sialkot sector.

It is now widely recognized that Israel, along with its supporters planning the ‘Gurion vs. Suez Canal,’ is not capable of surviving a full-scale war with Hamas, akin to Afghanistan. They trust in Allah for the just cause of removing Jews from their illegally occupied homes. Hence, I’m compelled to pay tribute to Hamas mothers for nurturing such a brave generation willing to sacrifice against any terrorists encroaching on their homeland illegally.

Irresponsible celebration

Celebratory aerial firing at a wedding has become a traditional part on marry making occasions, but fatal incidents marred a number of celebrations. These incidents, where joy turned into grief, speak volumes about how irresponsible people tend to become in times of celebration. Citizens are continuously asked by the authorities to practice caution in the use of firearms at weddings. But resorting to gunfire as a form of expressing joy must be penalised with the strictest punishment to deter people from putting other people’s lives in danger. It is very deplorable that despite restraints put in place by law, people still trespass that boundary, thinking they are allowed to celebrate in whatever manner they wish. But freedom to joy and festivities does not, in any way, allow harm to others. As a society and as part of a community, everyone must hold themselves responsible for other people’s safety.

Neighbours, particularly, have a lot of rights bestowed upon them by Islam. And seeing this tragedy take the life of a man in the neighbourhood, one sits down to think why are we being so careless towards each other. Tragedies caused by firearms and aerial firing underscore the need for stringent measures to deter such hazardous and potentially life-threatening celebrations. To avoid the worst, it is a collective responsibility to ensure that moments of celebration do not turn into mourning. No one likes to put their loved ones’ lives in danger. Yet it is ironic to see people turn to such risky ways of expressing joy. Authorities must enforce strict regulations and penalties to curb the use of firearms at weddings. Aerial firing should be dealt with an iron hand.

Podcast decency

I am writing to express my concerns regarding a recent trend in podcast content that I believe warrants public attention and discussion. Over the past few months, I have come across several podcasts that seem to be veering into a realm of vulgarity that is not only offensive but also detrimental to the values of decency and respect in our society. While I understand and appreciate the diversity of content available in the podcasting world, it is disheartening to observe a growing trend where explicit language, inappropriate topics and offensive commentary are becoming more prevalent.

I believe that freedom of expression is a crucial aspect of any media platform, including podcasts. However, this freedom should be exercised responsibly, with a consideration for the diverse audience that consumes such content. Vulgar language and inappropriate subject matter can contribute to a culture of disrespect and erode the standards of discourse in our community.

Stress among youth

This piece is aimed to draw the attention of all concerned to a pressing issue that has been silently escalating within the heart of our nation – the alarming rates of unemployment and the subsequent surge in tension and stress among the youth of Pakistan.

Unemployment is not merely an economic concern; it has profound social and psychological ramifications, particularly among the younger generation. As our youths grapple with the harsh reality of limited job opportunities, the resulting tension and stress are palpable, casting a shadow over their dreams and aspirations.

The United Nations has long recognized the interconnectedness of employment and societal wellbeing. Gainful employment not only provides financial stability but also fosters a sense of purpose and belonging. In the absence of such opportunities, the youth of Pakistan find themselves caught in a disheartening cycle of uncertainty and anxiety.

Nutrition crisis

Malnutrition has emerged as a pressing issue in Balochistan, with a rate of 48.6%, surpassing the national average. Districts like Hoshab, Panjgur, and Awaran are grappling with critical levels of acute malnutrition, making it a significant concern in Pakistan. Unfortunately, governmental efforts in addressing this issue have not yielded noticeable results. Contributing factors such as poverty and inadequate facilities exacerbate the situation, possibly leading Balochistan to have one of the highest malnutrition rates globally. Urgently, I implore the authorities to prioritize and swiftly resolve this escalating crisis.
