ISLAMABAD – Process for the upcoming general elections 2024 has begun in Pakistan with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) currently scrutinising the nomination papers of candidates.
The scrutiny will continue till Saturday while appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be submitted until Jan 3 and decisions on these appeals will be made by Jan 10.
The list of candidates will be displayed on Jan 11 and candidates would have the option to withdraw by the Jan 12.
The ECP will allot the electoral symbol on Jan 13 and polling for the general elections will be held on February 8.
Over 28,626 candidates for both national and provincial assemblies have submitted their nomination papers for the elections 2024.
More than 128.5 million registered voters in Pakistan will take part in polling, shows data of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
