IGP highlights importance of Safe City projects

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that the Safe City projects under construction in Gujranwala, Faisalabad and other districts are equipped with latest technology and software, which play a key role in crime control, traffic management and security surveillance in these districts.
He said that effective supervision should be ensured to complete these projects within the stipulated timeline. He gave these instructions while presiding over an important meeting about development projects at the Central Police Office.

In the meeting, the progress of completed Safe City projects, land acquisition for construction of new police stations, transfer of police stations on Special Initiative Protocol was reviewed. GP said that land is being acquired in Lahore for new police stations including Sherakot, Samanabad.

Other districts should select the suitable places for construction of new police stations and sent the list to the Central Police Office. He directed all district traffic officers to self-supervise the process of issuing driving licences and said that driving licences should be issued to as many citizens as possible through effective coordination with PITB.

IGP said that legal action should be taken against those guilty of violating traffic rules without discrimination and vehicles.
