Election 2024 ECP receives total 13, 823 nomination papers from Punjab

The Election Commission of Punjab on Monday shared comprehensive details regarding the received nomination papers. According to a spokesperson for the commission, a noteworthy total of 13,823 nomination papers have been officially logged for both general and reserved seats.

For the general seats in the National Assembly originating from Punjab, a detailed breakdown showcases 3,594 submissions from male candidates and 277 from female candidates.

Concurrently, the Provincial Assembly has seen a considerable influx with 8,592 male candidates and 437 female candidates filing their nomination papers for general seats.

Further, the spokesperson elucidated that 195 nomination papers have been tendered for the reserved seats dedicated to women in the National Assembly from Punjab. Similarly, for the Provincial Assembly’s reserved seats for women, the count stands at 601 nomination papers.

Delving into the minority representation, the Punjab Assembly has received 118 nominations from men and 9 from women for the specifically reserved minority seats.

Emphasizing adherence to the election schedule, the spokesperson declared that the scrutiny process would persist until December 30th, ensuring a thorough and transparent vetting of the nominations.
