Participating in Pakistan’s efforts in taking concrete steps to combat climate change, the Dawoodi Bohra community initiated the unique Environmental Conservation endeavour. The community under the guidance of His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin has dedicated 2 days in a month whereby every individual will take up environmental conservation activities.
His Holiness had urged that plantation and cleanliness activities should be taken up extensively on an individual as well government level. The community initiated this unique project with an awareness cycling rally followed by a plantation program at the Bin Qasim Park. More than 300 health enthusiasts participated in the program; 110 trees were planted.
A comprehensive Nazafat (cleanliness) activity was followed on the next day 25th December (Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam) in the Old City Area. Community volunteers cleaned an area spanning almost 2km from the Bohrapir market to the City Court. Apart from picking up garbage, the volunteers picked up construction debris and tried to resolve sewerage overflow issues in the area with the assistance of the KMC.
A spokesperson from the community stated that if every individual takes up this activity and dedicates just 2 days a month for environmental efforts, the affects will go a long way in realizing a sustainable, clean and green Pakistan.
