Banks to remain closed for three days in Pakistan

KARACHI – Pakistan announced long weekend holidays on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

The central bank announced a bank holiday on Monday which will be followed by Saturday, and Sunday.

With the annual festivity around the corner, banks throughout the country are set to undergo three-day closure, it was announced.

Friday signifies the last day of the business week for most banks, leading into the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will be normal weekly holidays, followed by Dec 25, which will be a national holiday commemorating the birthday of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Christmas.

Pakistani government declared December 25 and Dec 26, 2023, as Public Holidays for Christmas celebrations.

All offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of government except those engaged in essential services will remain closed for two days.

The government also notified public holidays for 2024. Check all public and optional holidays for Muslim and minorities festival in Pakistan for 2024.
