Cooking oil, ghee prices see major drop in Pakistan; Check latest rates here

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s inflation further hiked on YoY basis in the first week of December 2023, the country’s statistics bureau reported, but the government has passed on relief for inflation-hit people by lowering the price of cooking oil.

On Thursday, Utility Stores makes announcement about the considerable drop in prices of branded ghee and cooking oil across all outlets in Pakistan.

A spokesperson of a state-owned enterprise said the price of ghee has been lowered to Rs482 per kg from the previous rate of Rs500 while the price of cooking oil also saw a drop of up to Rs50 per kg.

The spox mentioned that prices of all top brands have been lowered and that the famous cooking oil will be available at Rs470 per liter, coming down from Rs520 per liter.

Furthermore, another brand of oil saw price drop of Rs37. The new price stands at Rs518 per liter and it was earlier being sold at Rs 555 per liter.

Let it be known that new prices have been implemented at all stores. USC spokesperson further mentioned that government is looking for further price reductions on various other commodities, as people are paying higher prices amid inflation.
