KARACHI – In a horrific incident, at least political party workers were killed in Karachi’s Machar Colony on Monday.
MQM Pakistan official Humayun Khan told media that at least three people were killed as two groups exchanged gunfire over dispute.
Soon after the triple murder, Karachi police conducted raids and held suspects. To ensure law and order situation, officials deployed contingents of police and Rangers.
Local residents of Machar Colony registered protests on the Maripur Road over the triple murder and caused blockade of the roads.
Police officials also clarified that neither of groups involved belong to MQM or any political party.
Amid the contrasting claims, MQM-Pakistan leader Anis Kaimkhani claimed that an armed group other a rival party opened amid electioneering process. He mentioned that Humayun Usman and Malak Fayyaz came under attack due to assault by coordinator of former health minister.
Kaimkhani further alleged that several party workers were also killed and some suffered and they moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Sindh capital, and capital of Sindh, Karachi experienced waves of violence, with periods of uneasy calm. The city witnessed bloodshed, and serious ethnic violence, while deadly street crime also marred daily life.
