LAHORE- The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Punjab police to produce Khadija Shah, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, before it at 2 PM today.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi passed the orders on plea moved by Jahanzaib Amin, the husband of Khadija Shah, against her house arrest.
“If Khadija Shah is not produced before the court the IGP must appear before it to explain his position,” observed the judge while passing the orders.
Previously nominated in the cases of May 9, Khadija Shah surrendered herself to the police.
After the Punjab government lifted the house arrest order, Quetta police apprehended Khadija Shah from Lahore jail. The court granted a 2-day transit remand for Khadija Shah, ordering her to be presented before the relevant court after its completion.
Simultaneously, an investigation into social media activist Khadija Shah has been initiated on charges of money laundering.
Under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) started probing alleged suspicious transactions in Khadija Shah’s bank account following the incidents of May 9.
Once all records are available, an inquiry would commence with Khadija Shah in jail, addressing questions regarding foreign transactions from her bank account.
