On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, desilting of 1,112 canals of the province will be launched from December 26 which will last until January 20.
In this regard all the divisional commissioners have been assigned the task of monitoring the desilting of canals which is being conducted after a gap of ten years. The Chief Minister while chairing a meeting on Sunday in Lahore directed that the commissioners will remain in the field during the desilting and will supervise all other matters.
He instructed that attention should also be paid to the repair of canals along with desilting.
