ISLAMABAD – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board will consider the first review of the $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) with Pakistan on January 11, 2024.

The global lending agency released the first tranche in July this year with $1.8 billion still un-disbursed under the SBA scheduled to expire in April 2024.

As per the media reports, the approval of the first review by the IMF board could pave the way for the release of the remaining amount under the SBA.

IMF Resident Representative in Pakistan Esther Perez Ruiz confirmed the latest development of the global lending agency’s Executive Board considering the first review under SBA in the next meeting scheduled for January 11, 2024.

The IMF and Pakistani reached a staff-level agreement on November 15 subject to approval by the Executive Board of the global lending agency.
