There is no letup in smog as the people of different cities of the country, especially those in Punjab, continue to experience hazardous air quality.
Rawalpindi, with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 250, emerged as the world’s second most polluted city on Thursday.
Indian capital New Delhi topped the list where the AQI was recorded at 288.
Lahore stood on the third position where the AQI stood at 247, while China’s capital Beijing, with AQI 182, was ranked as the world’s fourth most polluted city.
The situation was worse at Generations (Private) Limited in Lahore where the AQI was recorded at 445.
It was followed by The Mall where the AQI stood at 411, while the AQI over the US consulate was recorded at 318.
Similarly, the AQI over the FAST University was recorded 309, while 282 over Phase-8 DHA Lahore.
At the same time, it is getting cold in Lahore with each passing day as the minimum temperature in the city dropped to 10 degrees Celsius.
Humidity level in the air was recorded at 67 per cent.
The weather department, on the other hand, forecast no relief for the people of the country from smog as it said that the weather would remain dry during the next 24 hours.
