Former Chairman of Federal Education Board Islamabad Professor Niaz Irfan has said that Pakistan is rich with natural resources, fertile land and minerals, and needs peace, stability, unity and brotherhood to achieve economic progress and prosperity.
He expressed these views while addressing the monthly meeting of Shoori Hamdard. The meeting was presided over by National President Shouri Hamdard SaadYeh Rashid.
He said in his presidential speech that all the good things done in the world are done through peaceful efforts.
He said that one of the primary reasons war is not a solution to any problem is that it leads to destruction. In a war, buildings, roads, and other infrastructure are often destroyed, which can have long-term economic consequences. Losing lives and property can also lead to emotional trauma for the people affected by the war.
He said that in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable peace, human rights issues must be made an urgent priority in efforts to start dialouge.
The speakers said that the unity among the Muslims is vital for ending the plights of the oppressed people of Palestine and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing deep sense of shock over the indiscriminate bombardment in Gaza and other areas of Palestine, martyrdom of innocent Palestinian and the massive destruction of their property, they said that Muslims in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir are being targeted because of their religion and belief.
Other intellectuals include Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Hakeem Bashir Bhairavi, Rana Muhammad Akram, Dr. Afzal Babar, Dr. Farhat Abbas Naseem Sahar, M. Tariq Shaheen, Naeem Akram Qureshi, Dr. Mahmood ur Rahman, Engineer MuzaffarIqbal, GH Anjum Khokhar and Imtiaz Haider who shared thoughts with audience.
